Privacy & data we gather

Privacy policy

Effective May 31, 2026. This is a concise summary of how Does This App Work? handles data.

What you submit

If you submit a compatibility report, we store the app name, device model, beta version, whether the app works, optional comments, and submission timestamps.

If you use the Yes or No arrows in the reports column, we also store your vote for that app and a browser-generated identifier so the same browser can keep one current vote per app.

App Store lookup data

To show cleaner app names and icons, we may match submitted app names against Apple’s public App Store search data and store the matched app name, App Store ID, icon URL, and store URL.

Cloudflare Turnstile and abuse prevention

To limit spam and abuse, we use Cloudflare protections, including rate limiting and Turnstile verification. Turnstile may run invisibly or in the background depending on our configuration and Cloudflare’s risk assessment. Cloudflare may process technical signals such as IP address, user agent, origin, and related browser or network data to provide bot detection and security services. Learn more in Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Cookies and local storage

We do not use local storage for advertising. The site uses browser local storage to remember your light or dark mode preference, save your Yes or No arrow selections, and keep a browser-generated identifier for vote persistence.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and site usage. Vercel may process ordinary request and browser metadata such as page views, referrers, device characteristics, and related technical signals to provide analytics reporting.

Live updates

To keep the board current across devices, the app may keep a short-lived live connection open while the page is active so new reports and votes can refresh quickly. This uses ordinary request metadata in the same way as other site requests.

Third-party support link

We include a link to Buy Me a Coffee so visitors can voluntarily support the site. If you click that link, Buy Me a Coffee will receive the normal request metadata that comes with visiting their site.

Infrastructure logs

Hosting and security providers, including Vercel and Cloudflare, may process ordinary request metadata such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp, and response status for hosting, security, debugging, and reliability.

Public content and moderation

Submitted reports are intended to be public. We may reject, hide, delete, or merge reports that appear duplicative, abusive, spammy, unlawful, or otherwise harmful to the community.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for accounts, names, email addresses, payment information, or precise location. We do not sell personal information.
